They are all wonderful, genuine, caring, hardworking people. I have known them for many years through Jordan's wife Jessica. She and I have been penpals for 30 years (I live in Australia). On my visits to Vancouver, I have indulged in much Continental Coffee, and have never had better anywhere that I have travelled in the world. Can't wait for my next visit! They were half-spheres of chocolate wrapped in red and black foil, with little cardboard ladybug feet. During the same time period, one of my good friends passed away. These ladybug chocolates were one of his favorite things, and his widow and I decided to purchase some to serve at the celebration of his life.

Nick's grandmother Anita was working the counter at the time. Trying to purchase the chocolates was a rather emotional moment for myself and my widowed friend; upon seeing our distress, Anita responded with her classic "what's wrong, dear?", an expression of genuine heartfelt concern.

We told her the reason for our distress and purchase of such a large quantity of chocolate ladybugs. She enveloped us in a wonderful hug, as though she were our own grandma, and said "I can't make you pay for these".

Ever since, I have always appreciated the warmth of Anita and her family, and the wonderful atmosphere they provide at Continental. I look forward to Anita's hugs at Christmas and whenever else strikes her, and enjoy a laugh with Nick on a regular basis. These people are the real deal, and truly deserving of their appointment to the Super Citizen Showcase.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36720413.post-29770716617638222462007-01-04T16:17:00.000-08:002007-01-04T16:17:00.000-08:00Well thank you for your kind words. Maybe you should try to get a column for a newspaper or magazine. It is very interesting reading people's stories.ASAMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17522078887756968910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36720413.post-16747817421196903362006-12-25T11:19:00.000-08:002006-12-25T11:19:00.000-08:00A customer eye's view from Continental...A customer eye's view from Continental...

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03040852046498048407noreply@blogger.com
